Breakfast: Biscuits & Gravy

Ingredients

    Biscuits

  • Self-rising flour 2.5 cups
  • Crisco (butter flavor) 1/4 cup & 1/4 cup
  • Carnation Evaporated Milk as needed
  • Gravy

  • Crisco (butter flavor) 3/4 cup
  • Self-rising flour as needed
  • Carnation Evaporated Milk 2 Cans
  • Sausage 1/2 lbs

Directions

    First we make the biscuits...

  1. Add Crisco to flour.
  2. Stir adding cream until dough is thick and not sticky.
  3. Cover pan with melted Crisco.
  4. Cover wax paper with flour.
  5. Knead dough while sprinkling flour over it.
  6. Flatten dough to 1/2 inch.
  7. Cut out circle biscuits with glass top.
  8. Dunk glass in flour between each biscuit.
  9. Place biscuits on pan and drizzle melted Crisco over each.
  10. Bake @ 400 degrees around 30 minutes.
  11. Remove when nice and golden brown on top.
  12. Next we make the gravy...

  13. Brown and chopped sausage.
  14. Never stop stirring while cooking gravy.
  15. Add 3/4 cup Crisco in pot over medium heat.
  16. Add flour to the Crisco until thick.
  17. Add cream until rich and creamy gravy.
  18. Stir in sausage.
  19. Put them both in a bowl and eat them hot.
